Key Truth: “The legacy I leave will be created by the things I treasure.” • Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. • Matthew 6:19-21

  3. Key Truth: “The legacy I leave will be created by the things I treasure.” “Suppose you buy shares of General Motors. What happens? You suddenly develop interest in GM. You check the financial pages. You see a magazine article about GM and read every word, even though a month ago you would have passed right over it. Suppose you’re giving to help African children with AIDS. When you see an article on the subject, you’re hooked. If you’re sending money to plant churches in India and an earthquake hits India, you watch the news and fervently pray. As surely as the compass needle follows north, your heart will follow your treasure. Money leads; hearts follow. [Pages 43-44]

What is Aquila’s & Pricilla’s legacy? • “Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: • Who have for my life laid down their own necks: • unto whom not only I give thanks, • but also all the churches of the Gentiles. • Likewise greet the church that is in their house.” • Romans 16:3-5a

  7. Aquila & Priscilla Treasured God Acts 18:1-3 - God moved them from Rome to Corinth - In Corinth, Aquila and Priscilla are active in the synagogue. - In Corinth, Aquila and Priscilla are welcoming of the Apostle Paul.

  8. Aquila & Priscilla Treasured God’s Servants Acts 18:3,18-19 - Aquila and Priscilla partner with the Apostle Paul. - Aquila and Priscilla travel with Paul to Syria. - Aquila and Priscilla get left behind in Ephesus.

Do you treasure God? “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.” Matthew 13:44-46

  14. Do you treasure God’s Servants? “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” Hebrews 13:7,17

Do you treasure God’s Servants? “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-13

  16. Do you treasure God’s Word? “Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” I Peter 2:1-3

Do you treasure God’s Word? “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:12-13

Do you treasure God’s family? “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” Hebrews 10:23-25
