Best Behaved Bobcats • Earn these rewards: • Weekly Ballyhoo • Eligibility to participate in the monthly Ballyhoo Bash on the last Friday of each month. • Must earn the qualifying points for that month. • Four points can be earned each day. • The number of points required will depend on the number of days in the month times four. • The number of points will be announced on BIA and posted on the TV every day.
Point System • Each student will have the opportunity to earn 4 points per day for following class and school rules. • Number of points required to attend weekly Ballyhoos: • 1st Semester = 15 points • 2nd Semester = 16 points Students will also have the opportunity to earn “PAWSITIVE” bonus points by demonstrating exemplary Behavior, which may be added to their weekly point total and entered into a random drawing for special recognition on BIA.
Daily Success Points Earned • 1 point Behavior • 1 point Classwork/Preparation • 1 point Homework/Return Notes • 1 point Special Services (Art, Music, P.E.) • Consequences: • 1. Warning • 2. Point withheld for infraction • 3. Time-out in class • 4. Communication with Parents • 5. Time-out in grade level classroom • 6. Mrs. Haskell’s Intervention • 7. Office Referral (This must be turned in with an Interventions/consequences form which ensures that the first 6 steps have occurred.
Discipline Measures • Zero Tolerance for Bullying and Harassment • Inappropriate language, willful disobedience, disrespect, fighting, possession of explosive, toy (or real) weapons, or other items used as weapons will not be tolerated.
In Case of Severe Discipline • Notify Office immediately for. . . • Out of control behavior • Endangering self or others • Defying authority • Abusive language • Support Team will intervene. . . • Principal • Assistant Principal • Behavior Resource Teacher • Other Personnel Administrator will determine consequences And notify parent.
New Addition to the Plan P.A.W.S. For a “PAWSITIVE” Bonus Point Name:______________ Grade:______ Teacher:_________________________
“PAWSITIVE” BONUS POINTS The opportunity to earn bonus points will be offered by giving out P.A.W.S. certificates when students are “caught” exhibiting exemplary behavior. These points may be given by ANY staff member ANYTIME during the day. HOWEVER, realizing the need to shape positive behavior in the cafeteria, our major emphasis will be on awarding P.A.W.S. certificates during breakfast and lunch.
Redemption • This plan will provide students the opportunity to redeem themselves by exhibiting exemplary behavior. • “P.A.W.S.” Bonus Points will be added to weekly points earned to ensure higher numbers of participation in weekly Ballyhoo Clubs. • P.A.W.S. Bonus Points will not be carried over to the next week but will be used for recognition on BIA and prizes.
School Wide Recognition • It will be the students’ responsibility to complete the information on the certificates to be placed in a classroom box. • It will be the teachers’ responsibility to turn in all the PAWS certificates to BIA on Friday. • Every morning on BIA, a random drawing will take place and two students whose names are drawn will be recognized and given a coupon for a FREE snack, ice cream or pencil at lunchtime.
Managing the P.A.W.S. Rewards • After P.A.W.S. Certificates are pulled on B.I.A. they will be stamped “LUNCH TREAT” and placed in the teacher’s mailbox. • Teachers will retrieve the stamped certificates at their convenience and give them back to the student. • Students will be responsible for presenting their stamped certificates to the lunchroom staff the following day.

Weekly Ballyhoo Clubs • Weekly Ballyhoos will be changed from individual class activities to grade level events which will be known as Ballyhoo Clubs. • Ballyhoo Clubs will be decided by grade level teams. Each teacher in the grade level will offer a “Club” activity that will remain in place for the whole school year. Some possible suggestions are: Art Club Dance Club Outside Sports Club Game Club Book Club Stop and Think Club • Teams will decide one of the following options for club selection: • Students may select their club choice at the beginning of the week. • Students may select their club choice at the end of the week.
Weekly Ballyhoo Club Points In order for students to attend the weekly Ballyhoo Club, they must earn the following: 1st Semester = 15/20 possible points 2nd semester = 16/20 possible points * Remember….P.A.W.S. Bonus Points may be added to the weekly total but may not be carried into the following week.
Stop and Think • Students who do not earn enough points to attend the weekly Ballyhoo Club will attend the “Stop and Think” Club offered by each grade level. Maybe next week.
TB Monthly Ballyhoo Bash • The Ballyhoo Bash will replace the two Super Ballyhoo celebrations from past years. • The Ballyhoo Bash will be held the LAST Friday of each month. • All students who earn the set number of monthly points will participate in the school wide monthly celebrations as follows: • Aug.: Hawaiian Day (students may wear theme shirts and will receive a Hawaiian Lei ) • Sept. Sports Shirt Day • Oct. Mix Match Day • Nov. Jeans Day • Dec. Dress Your Best Day (no strapless or revealing tops will be allowed) • Jan. Hat Day • Feb. Inside Out Day • Mar. Bead Day (students will be given beads to wear) • Apr. Silly sock Day • May Crazy Hair Day
Bellamy’s Lunchroom Protocol • No students will be out of their seats. • Students will not clean tables or sweep floors. • Students will not get up to throw away garbage. • Lunchroom Aides will walk around to collect garbage. • Students may bring reading books, coloring books, etc. (Teacher discretion) as an activity to do quietly after their garbage has been picked up. • Cups will be positioned at each table to signal students and provide a visual for them.

Lunchroom Consequences • If green, class will get a ticket (filled out by the teacher) for the *weekly drawing* (one drawn for primary, one for intermediate) • If yellow, teacher will reinforce good behavior by discussing why they got the yellow cup and ways to improve. • If red, students won’t be allowed to bring their books, drawing etc. the next day.
Weekly Lunchroom Drawing • This will occur on Monday morning. A ticket will be drawn for Primary and Intermediate. • The reward will be an activity time with Mrs. Haskell. • Some of the activities may include, kickball, bubbles, sidewalk chalk etc. • Classroom teacher will provide equipment.
It’s up to us to make this work… Keep this in mind... • If each of us makes it our goal to be consistent and follow this plan as written, we can make it work. • As educators, we will reap the rewards of a successful discipline plan. • Remember, our students want and need the structure and discipline this plan offers. • The Discipline Committee is committed to helping you make this a success. • The overwhelming majority of our students are well-behaved and deserve to be rewarded for it.
