  1. 10+ Survey DataSpring 2012

  2. 10+ Survey Data • Surveys administered by Ameen/Bell, Erickson/Ruff, Boyd/Gabriel • 139 students completed the surveys • 67 self-identified as completing 10+

  3. 10+ Survey Data • Discussed at Curriculum Committee meeting on May 17 • 9+ pilot year just completed • Surveys not yet completed in all sections • Lisa Ruff working on 9+ curriculum this summer

  4. 10+ Survey Data • Overall, Curriculum Committee noted positive feedback on the 10+ offerings from our 10th grade students. Most students expressed satisfaction at having choices with assignments. Many students expressed the sentiment that they did not like doing what they perceived as more work; thus, this raised questions about student motivation, reasons for participating, depth of understanding, and consistency among teams.

  5. 10+ Survey Data • Common threads from Curriculum Committee • Majority of students felt like they had choices, option, felt like they were included • Is there consistency among teams? Does every team do the same things? • What does “more work” mean in a student’s mind? • Where are we in our philosophy of differentiation as a school?

  6. 10+ Survey Data • Questions raised by Curriculum Committee • Should we survey the staff members who teach 10+? • Should we survey the parents? • Should we look into the tiers of the planning? • How did this data compare with the past data? How many from 9+ will opt into 10+? • How do we change the perception that it is more work?

  7. 10+ Survey Data • As Humanities Teams, what else do we see? • Examine surveys if haven’t already. • How do we address the questions raised by Curriculum Committee? • How can we use this information to inform our future instruction? • What resources do we need to improve our practice with 10+ (and, ultimately, 9+)? • Discuss above.
