  3. Introduction Hello, everyone. This is a project about our group’s experiences and feelings in living with our host family, school-life, outing, performance in U.S.A. Hope you will enjoy our project and presentation.

  4. School-life

  5. Introduction Do you know the school life in the America is different from Hong Kong ? Let me tell you more about it ~ The school-life in the America was quite boring, because we didn’t know what the teachers were teaching. They treated us like the visitors, so we could just sit aside and listen to the teachers. But the school was really fun, too. They have many activities in school, and they learn things actively, don’t like Hong Kong students, just sit there and having the lessons.

  6. The school is really big. There are about 4 stories and 36 classrooms including special rooms. In Hong Kong, the schools just have 1 building and about 32 classrooms and 10 special rooms.

  7. Our school name is ‘Fremont High School’. The picture that represents this school is a firebird. This school is a little bit scary, the electronic machines that we can buy food are all locked with huge iron cages. The students can eat or drink anything they like while they are having their lessons even though the school rule is not allowed to. The students wear make up, high light their hair and do not wear school uniforms. They just wear casual.

  8. Everyday, we had dance lesson. The students dance beautifully, they are really great. Sometimes, we will have the cut wood lesson, it was really fun and new to me. At lunch, we went out to eat ourselves, it was really fun. The foods are not healthy, and expensive, too. We ate French fries, hamburgers and 1 soft drink. Sometimes, we will have an ice-cream for dessert.

  9. After lunch, we did not have lessons until the dance lesson. We went to the school library to serve the internet, reading books and playing the games in the computer. This time is the funniest time and not boring.

  10. After I finish my school in the America. • I think that we can learn something from them. • The good practices are as follows: • we have to change classrooms for every lessons and the teacher • will wait for us there • the students do not have to wear uniforms when they go to school • the students are learning things actively, and don’t just sit there • to listen their teacher teaching

  11. The bad practices are as follows: • they eat and drink during lessons • they throw rubbish everywhere • they don’t respect their teacher during lessons Their lockers are different from us, their lockers are stable on the outside of the classrooms.

  12. Life in host family • A family of five members. • They are Auntie Maxine, Uncle Howey, Stephanie, Michael and Sarah • Whole family is Chinese people. • Only Auntie Maxine knows to speak Cantonese.

  13. The front of their house. • It has two storey. • A large garage. • The dining room and the kitchen. • The whole house got 6 rooms and 4 washrooms.

  14. This is the second floor. • All the bedrooms are on the second floor. • The front door and the living room.

  15. They are catholic. • Needed to pray before meals. • Meals are cooked by Uncle Howey. • No maids in their home. • After every meal, needed to clean-up the dishes ourselves.

  16. Both the father and mother know how to drive. • Auntie Maxine drives us to school every morning. • We walk back home after school. • They will bring us out to have dinner. • Shop in Target, it looks like Sogo in Hong Kong.

  17. They bought us out to have some desserts. • This is Q-Cup. The crape is very delicious!

  18. Miss all of you! • Having dinner in the Old Spaghetti Factory. • Our last day with our host family.

  19. Interaction With Community • We have performance in the Moon Festival of the Silicon Valley 2002 • The first day, I felt nervous and do not have confidence • Afraid will dance wrongly • The second day, I felt a bit confidence and not worry anymore • The dance performance is successful • After this performance, we have earn some experience

  20. This is the Photo that the whole group of Israel dancers. The middle one is our dance leader: At there, there were some games and food store there, many people went to there. It was very crowded there.

  21. The photo after put up the make up: Here are some photos of our performance:

  22. Great America • It is much bigger than Ocean Park. • It is quite similar to the Ocean Park.

  23. Stanford University • It was a very bigplace. • It has a Hoover Tower, an observation platform This photo was took from the tower.

  24. Golden Gate Bridge • It was a very beautiful place.

  25. Fisherman's Wharf • We went to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum. • Many unbelievable stuffs inside.

  26. Many different kinds of souvenir shops. • Everyone of us bought many souvenirs from the shops. • Beautiful stones with pictures on it from shops.

  27. There was very windy. • While we were eating our dinner, large birds and pigeons were flying around us.

  28. Conclusion I think through this U.S.A. trip, we learnt a lot from it. We learnt to be co-operate. With co-operate, the dance performance will be successful. If we don’t co-operate with each other, the performance will be failed. It is also a good experience for us to live with out our parents. To join the host family’s daughter or son to go to school is a great idea that we can learn how they study, how is their formula every lessons, what lessons do they have…
