Title Fuels, Ventilation and Combustion • The unit has been developed to allow the learner to gain underpinning technology integrated with practical assignment work  • Extensive use of installed appliances and visual aids to demonstrate principles and reinforce technology is recommended • The unit is designed to provide the learner with an appreciation of fuels, their requirements to allow complete combustion

  3. Title Fuels, Ventilation and Combustion • The effects of incomplete combustion on the flue gas constituents; this could be demonstrated using a flue gas analyser. The effect of the products of incomplete combustion on people should be emphasised. The dangers of storing or using LPG below ground level should be emphasised. • Should use application of the knowledge gained the workplace to emphasise the necessity for correct flues and ventilation for all fuel burning appliances.

Title Fuels, Ventilation and Combustion • Assessment • A holistic approach has been adopted for all the formative assessments in the delivery of the practical and underpinning knowledge parts as detailed in the syllabus document. Learners can work in pairs for the practical activities but will require to complete a final practical test individually

Title Fuels, Ventilation and Combustion • There will be underpinning knowledge objective tests to confirm knowledge transfer of subject areas and learner feedback to learners to confirms area for improvement / areas of strength • There are a variety of practical, investigative tasks, other assignments and objective tests that can be developed by the centre to compliment the syllabus content

Title Fuels, Ventilation and Combustion • Select an approved fuel for the boiler • Select a carbon monoxide detector for the installation and give reasons for your answer • Specify an alternative flue arrangement for the installation • Measure the ventilator/s for the boiler and decide if it is acceptable (assessor to supply) • This is much the same as the previous unit but with some additions with the inclusion of solid fuel and oil

No faults on any controls
