For centuries, the Golden Ratio has been suggested as a possible solution. Long recognized in natural objects like sunflowers and nautilus shells and works of art by painters like Dali, it has begun to be discovered in the works of composers. While the Golden Ratio has appeared in pieces from the Classical to Modern eras, few composers have specifically used the ratio as a basis for their compositions, and those who do often abandon traditional form and melody for math. The piece I have composed combines the overt use of the Golden Ratio with traditional form and melody. (114 words) PERCEPTION: A PSYCHOTIC ADVENTURE REBECCA FREEMAN Mr. Tony Romano, Author William Fremd High School HarperCollins Publishers Everything is relative. Black and white. Up and down. Good and evil. But when you have no point of reference on which to base such a claim, how is it possible to determine right from wrong? When presented with a clean slate, the antagonist of my graphic novel must sort through his hazy memories to find himself. As he examines his past from this newfound perspective, he is forced to reestablish his moral standards. He must determine whether he’s really the hero of his story or if he has been an aide to the villain all along. Maybe in his confused, psychotic state, he’s the sanest of us all. Call me crazy, but in the end, it’s all about the way you look at it. (125 words)

  4. POD Commitment “I agree to evaluate your title and abstract in relationship to your verbal explanation with the same eager attitude and sense of urgency as I would my own title and abstract. I believe your title is an accurate yet concise way to introduce your project to the world. I also believe that EVERY word selected in your abstract is the best word to convey your project. If, at anytime, I have a suggestion to make, I will take the time to share my ideas in a thoughtful and productive way. I agree that I have reviewed, peer edited and approved of the materials this pod is presenting.”
