COMMUNITY PLANNING GUIDANCE(Local Government Scotland Act, 2003) ”It is particularly important that communities are involved in the planning and delivery of services at a local level, as it is at this level that agencies can come together to work with communities to address local problems and concerns in a way which cannot be achieved at a Council-wide level alone.”

DUNDEE PARTNERSHIP COMMITTMENT Following the Community Planning Guidance, the Dundee Partnership is committed to: • placing communities at the heart of community planning. • promoting effective collective engagement by agencies with communities. • developing effective joint working practices between public, private and voluntary sector bodies. • improving the connection between national and local priorities. • achieving agreed outcomes and targets. • promoting active citizenship, community capacity and social inclusion.

LOCAL COMMUNITY PLANNINGSupporting the Process • The Communities Department of Dundee City Council were charged with leading the process. • The Neighbourhood Partnership Networks provide a mechanism for co-ordinating partner agencies input. • The Building Stronger Communities Theme Group and the Community Learning Partnership provide strategic direction and support. • The Chief Executive of DCC meets NPN Chairs and Communities Officers every 2 months • Local Community Plans formally approved by the Dundee Partnership Management Group and Dundee City Council.
