Risk Vocabulary Instruction: The 10 Most Important Words Objective: The student will be able to identify 10 words that are related to drugs and alcohol Procedure: The topic of drugs and alcohol is written on the board. The students will be asked to think about what words come to mind when they hear drugs and alcohol. Each student will write down what they think the 10 most important words are going to be in this unit. Once each student has their list they will compare them with one another in groups. In the small groups they will compose a new list of 10 words that they believe are most important. Then each group will write their list on the board. As a class we will go over the lists and look for similarity. From this we will be able to create a new list of the 10 most important words. If there are words that I want them to have that are not on the list I will make sure to add it. Also I will ask the class if they see any patterns. This could be like types of drugs, alcohol, treatment, addiction.
