Objective: Today we are applying the process of FCIM by creating and analyzing reports to determine next steps in supporting student achievement. How to Access Curriculum Locker • Click the Curriculum tab after signing onto Edusoft. • Click on the Curriculum Locker link at the top or in the middle of the page. • Click to expand the folder titled District Instructional Focus Calendars & Assessments 2011-2012 on the left-hand side. • Select and expand the grade level. Select the content area folder you wish to assess. • Select the month you wish to access on the right hand side. Click the view button. • Click on the Assessment link to directly open the assessment page. You may print assessment or have students to take online.

Data Disaggregation: Assess Needs • Identify strengths and weaknesses • Consider: • How will your staff disaggregate data? • How will you use data to drive and redirect instruction? 18

The Importance of Good Data It is important to have data available that • can be easily disaggregated not only by school but by classroom and specific groups of students AND • provide a detailed analysis of results by objective or skill in addition to overall scores. High-quality, targeted data helps to develop questions that will lead to identifying trends and a course of action.

Accessing Edusoft Report • Click the Benchmark Exams tab after signing onto Edusoft. Click on the circle titled reports at the top.

Types of Reports for data analysis Let’s focus on how to create and run these types of reports.

Guiding Questions: Data Analysis • What evidence can we collect about our students’ learning? • What evidence do we have that shows the knowledge, skills, and understandings our students have achieved? • Which data indicate the degree to which our students show the conceptual understandings and generalizations in our standards? • What evidence shows which students are meeting or exceeding our achievement expectations and which are not? • Why are our children performing the way they are?

Processing Activity: Rally Robin • Study the Class List report for one minute. • With your shoulder partner, you will each take a turn either identifying a trend or sharing an analysis question based on the report. • Keep going until you are told to stop. The person whose birthday is closest to today’s date will start first.
