  2. I Believe this to be the a more fair explanation. The status in neutral countries during the World War 2 was complex. As you will now discover in a simplified fashion. OPINION

  3. Answer There were over 100 countries that were neutral, but if you are talking about Europe, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Turkey all stayed out of the war. Both sides actively sought the participation of Turkey and Spain to a lesser extent.

  4. MORE INFO Even the Irish free state was also neutral during World War 2. Turkey was one of those opportunistic countries that declared war very late indeed, when going through the motions of entering the war was meaningless - January 1945.

  5. The war began with Nazi Germany's attack on Poland in September, 1939, the United States did not enter the war until after the Japanese bombed the American fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941.

  6. Why did they allow Germans pass through Sweden? In June 1941 Germany demanded to transport 18 000 soldiers on Swedish railroads(and transport of wounded German soldiers back to Norway), Sweden said yes to this demand but we only agreed to it once and we did, in July same year Germany demanded again to transport soldiers this time Sweden refused.

  7. Did India remain neutral? India did not remain neutral. India was a part of the British Empire until 1947. Millions of Indians served in both WWI and WWII as imperial subjects. The major neutral countries during WWII were Ireland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and Afghanistan. Argentina was neutral until late March of 1945.

  8. WHAT COUNTRIES STAYED NEUTRAL? Switzerland and Sweden, the only countries that stayed neutral during World War 2.

  9. Why countries did the countries stayed neutral? Countries like Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Ireland (Eire), Sweden, Turkey, and Argentina, stay neutral because they were refusing to fight and not take sides.
