  1. Audience Research

  2. I researched magazines aimed at teens and older. I looked at their target audiences and how they’re shown through their magazine front covers. I looked at the sort of language they used, images and models. The front covers featuring girls on them, usually show the women to be flirty, fun, fashionable and attractive. This appeals to both men and women, especially teens who idolise women who are shown on the front covers, as they desire to be like them whether it’s because of the fashion or their personalities which are being shown through by their poses.

  3. Kerrang is a very popular magazine which many teens read and follow. I looked at the language on this poster and analysed how it shows it is aimed at teens. The use of ‘free! 4 giant posters’ The use of the word ‘free’ which is bold and bright could appeal to teenagers as most teens don't have much money and like having free things. The use of exclamation marks throughout makes it seem as though it’s being shouted out in an excited tone, which could appeal to younger audiences.

  4. My target audience would be females aged 16-25 who are fans of rock music and artists who produce any form of rock genre music. For my front cover I asked my model to pose in a way which represented a certain personality. I asked her to wink, to show that she’s cheeky and make a ‘shh’ look with her finger over her mouth to show that she has secrets which could be revealed in the magazine. This pose shows she is cheeky, flirty and fun which would appeal to my target audience, as many teenage girls aspire to be fashionable and appeal to men, and all the characteristic portrayed in my models pose are things associated with attracting the opposite sex. I chose the clothes as I wanted them to represent that my model on the front cover produces rock music. I found most magazines show the artist on the front cover wearing clothing which is fashionable, and that represents their music, so I chose black clothes as this is associated with rock music, and I also used lots of bracelets and necklaces as this is very popular within fashion, and teenagers.
