  3. Review of Capitol Hill Landscape • Currently Congress is out on a 2 week district recess. On Tuesday, April 13th, they return to Washington, DC. • Cutting budgets, reducing the deficit, stimulating the economy, and creating jobs will be top of mind among Members of Congress. • The level of partisanship and party feuding has steadily increased as a result of the sweeping healthcare bill being passed. • FY 2011 appropriations process will be in full swing. • Education reform hearing will be underway.

Schedule Tuesday, April 13 Congressional Arts Hearing 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2359 • Limited seating is available in the Committee Room but there is an overflow room available to view the hearing live on large screen monitors. • Witnesses include: • NEA Chairman Rocco Landesman • Congressional Arts Caucus Co-Chairs Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and Todd Platts (R-PA) • Americans for the Arts panel of witnesses include Robert Lynch, Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, Actor Kyle MacLachlan, Retired General Nolen Bivens, Ovation TV CEO Charles Seagars, and Minot Arts Council Executive Director Terri Aldrich.

Overall Message to Your Delegation • Your visit to your Congressional delegation is important because it’s part of an (organized) show for support; • The most important information to share isn’t national data, it’s your local examples and research – so bring ‘em to town; • Members want to see how votes they cast results in funding and support at home – show bring examples of how government support has helped.
