  2. Assessment Review Coordinating Group(ARCG) Established April 2004 Approved by SSA leads/Joint Future Coordinators/e-Care Under auspices of Joint Future Unit at SE Supported by: e-Care, SCDS, ISD, SE ASD

  3. Remit of ARCG Primarily, to set National MinimumStandards for shareable information

  4. National Minimum Standards • Shareable information – some of the information that needs to be shared with others including inter Agency • National – adopted across Scotland • Minimum – speaks for itself!

  5. Benefits of National Minimum Standards • Supports more effective and consistent sharing of information • Contributes to development of a common language across all community care groups • …and across health and local authority boundaries • Builds on Guidance for SSA • Useful to all – from front line staff, to information systems development

  6. Applying the National Minimum Standards • Local process can flourish within a national framework • Standards are about information gathered (not about ‘forms’) • All data items must be included in local assessment tool • Not compulsory for every client assessment

  7. ARCG – what has been achieved so far • Minimum information standards for Older People – published December 2004 • Compliance review process begun • Draft Minimum standards for all adult care groups out for consultation • Links with other related initiatives, e.g. Childrens Services

  8. Standards for Assessment of Older People, include • Indicator of Relative Need (IoRN) • Care Assessment Data Summary (CADS)

  9. Compliance Review Process underway • SCDS staff working with local Partnerships • Positive benefits locally • Gives indication of SSA ‘state of readiness’ • Tool for benchmarking systems

  10. ARCG – Future priorities • Continuing to develop standards for processes relating to assessment and care provision • Care Planning • Care Management • Review

  11. National Minimum StandardsIn conclusion: • Significant progress made • Common link between service delivery, information systems and information • Important to get the fundamentals right • Foundation for effective joint working and Better Outcomes for service users
