  2. What is Vascular tissue? • The vascular tissue system is one of three tissue systems that make up a plant. • Vascular tissue is surrounded by ground tissue. • vascular tissue transports water, mineral nutrients and organic compounds to all parts of a plant. • The vascular system is made up of two networks of hollow tubes a bit like our veins.

  3. Different Types of Vascular Tissues These are the two different types of vascular tissues • The xylem is one type of vascular tissue and it is responsible for the upward transport of nutrients and water. • The phloem is another type of vascular tissue and its responsible transport of dissolved food in all directions of the plant.

  4. The Properties of Vascular Tissue • Vascular tissue in plants have specialized tissues (xylem & phloem) that transport different substances such as water and nutrients through out the plant.

  5. Facts • About 93% of plant species are vascular plants. • Non-vascular plants such as mosses don’t have vascular tissue to transport substances around the plant. • The vascular tissue is arranged in bundles and is easy to see in a cross-section of a stem

  6. Questions • What are the two types of vascular tissue? Answer: Xylem and Phloem. 2. What is the Vascular tissue surrounded by? Answer: The ground tissue. 3. The vascular tissue is arranged in strands TRUE/FALSE? Answer: FALSE - The vascular tissues are arranged in bundles.
