  15. Adolescence • Development does not end in childhood. It continues throughout life. • Definition: stage of life between childhood and adulthood. • It can be divided into three developmental tasks: • Finding your identity • Becoming independent • Planning for your life’s work

  16. Young Adults Definition: when a person is in his or her twenties, primarily beginning at age 21. The young adult finishes preparing for a career and begins working toward it and establishing it. Many people begin more permanent lifelong relationships through dating and marriage in this stage.

Middle Age • Definition: a person in his or her thirties through fifties accomplished in several areas of life. • They typically meet the following tasks: • Establishing roots, during thirties, often means forming a family and settling down in a particular location. • Reevaluating life leads many people in their forties to question the choices they have made. Possibly beginning a second career. Also, possibly divorce and a second marriage may occur. • Finding stability and peace, in the fifties, is a matter of readjusting. Very often children are moving out and married couples reconnect. Travel may become prevalent.

  18. Old Age Definition: Latest stage of life, which covers the sixties and on to death. The individual comes to terms with life choices and placement at this time. Grand parenting is enjoyed at this stage. Retirement is experienced typically at this time. Officially, workforce participation ceases at this time near or around the ages of 65-70. Limited social participation is experienced. Friends and spouses die and a circle of life is completed. Assisted living facilities and full care facilities are utilized at this final stage of life. More health issues occur here.
