  3. We strive to develop acreative learning environment for children with the hope that they lead a more meaningful life

  4. The Beginning… Started in July, 1998 with 2 children of domestic help Grew to 12 & we moved to Ambedkar Vihar in December,1999

  5. Our first bunch of kids Happy… Excited…Loving… and yearning for more These faces made us believe in them and hang in there despite all problems Quiet a few in the picture are in Class IX and above now

  6. Working from within Rented rooms, regular classes, committed teachers and volunteers helped us earn parents trust & confidence

  7. 10 years in Ambedkar Vihar – Our first centre First cultural program in the basti in 2000 Attending a class in 2008 Our first group of children mainstreamed into formal schools are in Class IX today. Please note the two pictures feature the same set of children

  8. Vidya & Child in 2009reaches out to more than 700 children across it’s 3 centres in Noida & 1 in Siwan, Bihar Ambedkar Vihar, Sec 37 Shahpur Village, Sec 110 Khoda Colony, Sector 62 Siwan, Bihar

  9. Our Process Vidya & Child motivates the parent and the child in visualising a purposeful future and the meaningful role that education plays in every person’s life.

  12. NFE Programme – Preparing for mainstream • Nursery to Class V • Internally developed curriculum based on CBSE • Teacher : Student ratio - 1:20 • Healthy balance of academics & extra-curricular activities

  13. Admission to mainstream • After Class V, children are mainstreamed to a CBSE school. • Schools carefully selected by Vidya & Child Board of Trustees • Admission costs shared jointly with the parents • Vidya & Child teachers attend all school PTM’s to keep abreast

  15. ASSP – Academic Programme • Child spends 4 hours everyday after school • Academic support supplements school education • Teachers provide the necessary emotional support to keep them motivated • Helps identify the creative talent within and channelise strengths towards a suitable career path

  16. Life Skills Programme • All children Class II and above attend Life Skills classes • Topics range from gender issues, eve teasing, hygiene issues, physical, mental & emotional health. • A topic is chosen which culminates into a workshop, nukkad natak or some initiative which involves the community at large.

Volunteer Programme • Volunteers are an integral part of Vidya & Child. • They are employees of Cadence, HCL, Mentor Graphics etc… • They help strengthen their academic concepts and provide morale support too. • They are ‘real-life’ role models for our children. • Children hold them in high esteem and look up to them for guidance

The Parent Interaction Programme A very active Parents Programme at Vidya & Child - • gives feedback through regular PTM’s. • helps them visualise their child’s future • seeks more support & involvement in their child’s education • organises health camps • discusses gender issues • resolves conflicts between parent & child The parents completely trust us with their child’s future and that is a big motivator for us.

Foundation Programme • A strong foundation programme for students of Class XI & XII so that they can prepare for career oriented education • Individual focus and good quality of education in Class XI and XII will help the students have a successful life • These students get extra academic support along with their school education • A network of passionate tutors and institutions help us achieve this • Mentor Programme – where mentors guide the students in making right career choices based on their interest & aptitude

  21. A&PA Programme Hindi Play “Shastra Dekho Shastra English Play – Merchant of Venice Kathak English Play – Alibaba and the Forty Thieves English Play – Pied Piper of Hamelin

  22. A&PA Programme • Children are grouped as per their ability and interest. • Trained professionals teach Kathak, Tabla, Music & Theatre for 3 hrs twice a week. • Children learnt painting by Ms Damyanti, a professional artist. • Ample opportunity given to perform & showcase their talent

  24. Future PlansBarola, Sector 49, Noida • Inaugurated on 14th November 2009 • Classes to begin from March 2010 • Would cater to over 200 children by 2012 in the Non Formal Education Program from Nursery to Class V • Also planned an After School Activity Centre to cater to over 100 children
