  6. The Shopping Malls 

  7. Beware of all modes of transportation, traffic, and potholes.

  8. Every neighborhood has several pulperias in case you forgot something at the store or need to buy on credit. Sam’s favorite take out. Fried chicken. They sell a variety, from razorblades to powdered milk, sodas, aspirin and bread.

  9. These ladies make tortillas for 12 hours every day which they sell for a nickel a piece.

  10. The local elementary school and high school.

  12. WHY HERE? • God has called us! • Quimistan has no children’s home nor a day care facility. • 66% of the population lives in poverty- (6 Million) • 2 Million live on less than $1 USD. • Fertility rate: 4 children per woman. • Majority are single parent homes.

  13. Often the oldest daughter does not have the opportunity to go to school due to caring for younger siblings. Thus the need for a day care center.

OUR PURPOSE: Tranquilidad Foundation’s purpose is to manifest the love of Jesus Christ as it provides care, love, protection, and a home to the orphaned, neglected, and/or abused children and youth in the Quimistan Valley of Honduras. • Tranquilidad Foundation will provide for the children: • Emotional and Spiritual Support • Shelter and Security • Educational Opportunities • Nutrition and Medical Care • Recreational Activities

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH: • We are a Christian based organization and believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. • We believe in the Holy Trinity: the One God, His Son, Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. • We believe in the death of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins, His resurrection, and our salvation through that belief. • We believe that every Christian is called to spread the love of Jesus and the knowledge of His sacrificial death for all.

  16. The beauty of God’s provision!

  17. After 19 months, the presentation of many legal documents, the translation of all, and much prayer we finally have our ONG status….Non-government Organization. This authority was needed for us to work with INFA, the children’s protective agency on Honduras.

  18. Our dream for the13.5 acres.

  19. The security fence project begun in March 2012 has been completed providing 570M of protection. The remaining boundaries are secured with barbed wired fence abutting secured farmland.

  20. Working with a Rotary Club in San Pedro Sula based on a grant from a club in N. Wilkesboro, NC a deep well (250 feet) has been dug to provide water. It is capped and ready.

  21. The pump house is being built to contain the pump, pressure tank and water cistern. Tranquilidad is grateful to Honduras Agape Foundation for a grant for this project.

  23. The construction of the store room is well underway…. Scaffolding.. Honduran style

  24. This house begun by the previous owners 17 years ago will be completed to provide the first structure for the day care and/or group home.

  25. This will be the first building for children. We plan to begin construction by Jan. 2014.

  27. Our rental home in Q town - a true blessing from God Taking time to snack and read. Our home theater… ready for a movie.

  28. Other than all this… What have we been doing for 8 months???!!! • Studying Spanish. • Learning how to drive DEFENSIVELY in and outside the city. • Developing our PATIENCE muscle. • Strengthening relationships and growing new ones. • Attempting to show the love of Jesus to all we meet… • especially each other. • Learning to follow God’s timing and leading daily. and…

  29. Josselin Attending events to support a young teenager from a poor single parent home whom we sponsor so she can attend high school – this is a PE competition.

  30. Helping with a children’s program every Sunday morning.

  31. Helping with a medical clinic up in the mountains…. Sam providing entertainment for the children.

  32. Enjoying our first visit to Belize when our Visas had expired.

  33. Digging in the dirt, planting some flowers, and enjoying the ones that have grown.
