  2. St. Procopius Basilica In Třebíč

  3. Introduction St. Procopius Basilica is an example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. It was built approximately between 1240 and 1280. Basilica became a national cultural monument in 2002 together with Jewish neighbourhood. It was included on UNESCO World Heritage list a year later. Originally there was only St. Benedict chapel, which was built in 1104.

Division • - St. Procopius basilica is three- aisled • - there are two towers in the west front • the nave is wide, the ceiling is vaulted, there are 6 vault fields, • side aisles have nine vault fields • tracery vault origins in baroque age and was designed by • František Maxmilian Kaňka, because the original vault • was damaged in 1468

  5. Abbot´s chapel • both side aisles used to be finished by chaples in the East part • only abbot´s chapel was preserved and serves assacristy till today

  6. Narthex • - is an entrance columned space with ribbed vault • you can get into the basilica by Romanesque entrance portal, which is called Paradise Gate

  7. Crypt • - can be found under the choir of the nave • Special Gothic cross vault was made of timber, which is placed • between the stony ribs • - The place has a special athmosphere
