  2. What is a conversation? A conversation occurs when 2 or more people are talking about the same idea.

  3. What is a question? A question is usually a request for information or action.

  4. What is a related comment? I love cheese pizza! Me too! But, I also like pepperoni. A comment is a verbal statement related to an idea, information, or an observation. A related comment is a verbal statement directly connected to another person’s idea, information, or observation.

  5. Getting Started… Do: Look at the person Say: “Hello,” “Hi,” or “How are you?” Wait: Listen for an answer

  6. Next… Do: Look at the person Say: Make a comment or ask a question Wait: Listen for an answer or a related comment

  7. Then… Do: Look at the person Say: Respond to their answer or related comment or ask another question Wait: Listen for their question or related comment

  8. Finally… Continue this pattern: Do: Say: Wait:

  9. Practice script #1(Remember: Do, Say, Wait) Hi. Hi. How was your weekend? It was great. I went to a movie. How was yours? It was good. I played video games on my computer. Sounds fun! I’ve got to go to class. See ya! Bye! Have a great day!

  10. Practice Script #2(Remember: Do, Say, Wait) Hey Guys! Hey! How are you? We were just talking about Cars. That’s a great movie! I think Lightning McQueen is an awesome race car! Which cars did you all like? I think King is my favorite. I really liked King too, but Mater was my favorite character. I loved it when Mater drove around town backwards! I can’t believe he never hit anything! I just heard the bell. I think it’s time to go to class. I’ll see you all later! Sounds good. See ya! Buh-Bye!
