  2. ARTICLE of the WEEK (AoW) Week ONE: What does annotate mean? It means underlining or highlighting key words and phrases-anything that strikes you as surprising or significant, or that raises questions-as well as making notes in the margins. When we respond to text this way, we not only force ourselves to pay close attention, but we also begin to think with the author about the evidence. This is the first step in moving from reader to writer. ARTICLE OF THE WEEK:

  4. SoW Quiz: On Friday you will be asked to write a paragraph that uses this skill correctly. I will be grading that you use a subject and a verb in each sentence since this is the SoW skill. I will also be grading that you used 5 vocabulary words correctly.

  5. SoW • Week 1: Identify a Subject and a Verb • Copy the following sentences: • Jerry ate the pizza. • Mike and Lisa are happy. • Miguel was running in the race. • What do you notice? • Imitate.

VoW-Week 1 Take out the 30-15-10 List Vocabulary for this week are the first ten prefixes. **You are responsible for using words with these prefixes on your SoW Quiz on Friday.** **Write at least two words as examples on your paper. Grading: 10 points for subject/verb per sentence. 10 points for each vocabulary words used correctly. Total: 100 points
