Basic fields of research: • Ontological and logical models; epistemological principles and approaches; • The dynamics of ethical and aesthetic values; • The universal essence of religion as a basis for interfaith dialogue; • European integration and globalization; processes in post-industrial and globalized knowledge-based societies; • Structure and dynamics of scientific knowledge, of the network of social factors of the development of science and innovation, of the modern forms of education; • Social stratification and inequalities, poverty and exclusion, forms of social integration and solidarity; • Ethnic and socio-cultural composition of Bulgarian society, gender, disability and equal access; • Models and policies for successful development; regional and local development, ecological practices and new social risks; • Development of civil society – social activeness, social capital and confidence; • Socio-cultural conditions of crime and corruption.

  4. NATIONAL-LEVEL ACTIVITIES SERVING THE STATE: • Analytical report on “National Strategy Documents Created During the Period 2005-2010 for the Administration of the Republic of Bulgaria”. Prepared for the needs of the Administration of the President of Bulgaria • Summarized information on research studies conducted by ISSK researchers on issues of ethnic relations, social distance, images of the “other”, ethnic conflicts, gender, discrimination and equal opportunities, active aging, cohesion between the living conditions in cities and villages. Prepared at the request of MLSP. • Study of credit indebtedness of Bulgarian households, an analysis of the indebtedness of the population, profiles of social groups with credit obligations, problems and conflict areas in the “credit user - creditor” relationship. Measures for maintaining the smooth functioning of the Bulgarian credit system.
