His wife Elizabeth and him were accused of witchcraft (primarily by Abigail Williams who was 11 at the time). John Proctor was a tavern owner and wealthy landowner. His wife was pregnant at the time and therefore her execution was postponed (never to occur). He was hanged at the age of 60.
Giles Corey was not hanged for refusing trial but pressed to death with large stones. When it was asked if he had had enough and would stand trial his response was “more weight” each time until he perished. He was 81 years old.
