  1. Love the present(John 4:7-26)

  2. Three Questions • 1) When is your best time to do things? • 2) Who is your most important person in life? • 3) What is your most important thing to do at all times?

The most important time in life? • This present moment! • “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (Prov. 27:1); • “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes” (James 4:13-14). • All I can do to make up for past mistakes or make a good life in the future is only to do my best in this present time.

  4. The most important person in life? • The one who is with us now. • AKorean proverb, “Close neighbors are far better than distant relatives • “If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles” (Mt. 5:41). • All human beings deserve our love and respect because they are all God’s creation. • The most important people are the ones who are now with us.

  5. The most important thing in life? • Do good to the person we are with. • “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act. Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow’—when you now have it with you” (Proverbs 3:27-28). • We should love and do good to them with all our hearts before they leave us.

  6. When Jesus met a Samaritan woman, he challenged her to think about the three important things in life.

  7. 1)What is the most important event we as God’s children must do? • They both agreed that it is worship. • “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem. Jesus declared, ‘Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews’” (vv. 20-22).

  8. 2) When is the best time to worship the Lord? • Jesus’ answer is “now” and “here.” • “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.“ (vv. 23-24)

  9. 3) Who is the most important? • Jesus and the Samaritan woman talked about the Messiah. • The woman said, "I know that Messiah" (called Christ) "is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.“ • Then Jesus declared, "I who speak to you am he“ (vv. 25-26).

  10. The fundamental and ultimate mission of Christians is to worship God; we are called to witness to Jesus Christ; we are called to preach the Gospel; we are called to praise the Lord in our gatherings in the church. • And when can we worship the Lord and preach his Gospel? It’s not once a week or special days but everyday in our lives. • How and when to serve the Lord? We will serve God as we serve and love others around us. • The people we are facing in our present time are the most important people because they are with God whom we worship.

Love the present moment • The most precious time is now. • The most precious people are the ones who are now with us.The most precious thing for us to do is to love each other. • To God’s people, what would be more important things than we worship the Lord and love our neighbors? • May God’s peace and love be with you in this moment. • May you also love and care for people who are now with you! Amen.
