  1. CMM Assessment Grant IIAC Meeting - May 22 2003 Funded by Innovation and Technology Fund of HKSAR Government Managed by Hong Kong Productivity Council

  2. To speed up adoption rate of CMM in HK and have early successful cases. To encourage local Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to improve software development process and increase competitiveness. To provide assistance and advice to local ISVs in CMM assessment. To share experiences with local ISVs about CMM deployment. Objectives

  3. Who are eligible to apply? • It is incorporated in Hong Kong under Companies Ordinance (Cap. 32). • It has substantial connection with Hong Kong. (A significant proportion of its research, design, development, production, management or general business activities located in Hong Kong). • It is a company with primary business focus on software development. (In-house MIS unit serving internal user divisions will not be considered.) • It has not achieved any CMM Level before.

  4. Vetting criteria • Have a need and plan for achieving better software product and process quality. • Have a clear idea on the perceived benefits of achieving CMM Level 2 or above. • Demonstrate a strong commitment towards quality objectives and project plan. • Demonstrate a financial need for this Grant. Preference will be given to SMEs. The 7-member CMM Assessment Grant Vetting Committee comprise IT professionals, IT industrialists, academics and Government officials.

  5. Funding support • External costs for hiring external consultants and CMM Lead Assessor is in the range of HK$500,000 to HK$800,000. • Funding support to each applicant company will be 50% of these external costs but capped at a maximum of HK$300,000. • The applicant company can choose its own choice of scheme (SW-CMM or CMMI) and level (2 to 5).

  6. Reimbursement schedule • To ensure proper use of the Grant and encourage active participation of the applicant, the Grant will reimburse in 3 phases: • Upon the satisfactory progress, reimbursement will be made: • Phase 1: 20% upon finalizing Project Plan • Phase 2: 40% upon finalizing Process Manual • Phase 3: 40% upon Endorsement Letter from Lead Assessor
