  1. The Weekly Connection Math In math this week, we’ll be continuing to learn about number forms, place value and patterns. Here is an example of the number forms we’re concentrating on. Reading Logs Reading logs will start this week! I ask that at least four nights a week you read with your child for 10 minutes. Please fill out the log by writing the name(s) of the book(s) you read at home along with how long you/your child read for. Also, when you receive your log you’ll find that it has two sides. You may choose either log to start with. Just remember to return it after the two weeks are up! Standard Form: 29 Word Form: Twenty Nine Expanded Form: 20 + 9 = 29 Base Ten: Reminders!!!!!!! Writing In writing this week, we’ll be learning how to create a more detailed paragraph. Piner uses a great writing program call – 4 square writing! If you’d like more information on this please let me know! Note: You may see writing prompts coming home as homework in the future. I encourage you to ask your children about the writing process we use in class and guide them in their writing! • Sign up for PTA! • Return your box top sheets each month for a special party given by PTA! • Stuffed animals stay at home! Enrichment Squares! Starting this week, you’ll also find enrichment sheets coming home! If your child chooses to complete a minimum of three squares and return the sheets on each Friday of the month, they may draw a prize!

  2. What’s Happening in Room 133? September 2012 Happy September!!! This month your students will be continuing to practice classroom routines and learn new content! I have been very happy to see each student’s progress since school started! At home please continue to work with your students on their homework and challenge them to explain their thinking! Enrichment and Differentiated Assignments In the coming weeks, please begin to expect assignments coming home for your students that will be completely optional but completely beneficial! The more we can challenge them, the more they’ll learn!! If you find a purplepiece of paper in your student’s folder, this will be an enrichment page. If you find a blue piece of paper this will be a differentiated assignment based on the child’s MAP scores and Compass path. Please note that some of the papers sent home will be over topics we may not necessarily have covered yet in class! This is a chance for you bond with your child and learn about new concepts together!! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me! Happy Birthday!!!!!! Lillie – September 1st Ben – September 24th Connor – September 29th Thank You!! I just wanted to say thank you so much to those of you who have brought in extra/wish list supplies! They are GREATLY appreciated!!!
