What we offer • The University owns or manages accommodation for over 1,800 students at eight sites across the city • Students from outside Birmingham who make us their first choice and apply by the deadline are guaranteed a place in halls for their first year of study • All halls have CCTV and 24-hour security patrols • Student Assistants provide support and staff are available during office hours • Public transport runs between halls and all University sites • Adapted accommodation for those with special needs • Prices include energy bills and basic internet package

  4. Costs and facilities City South Campus Rent: £80.50-£97 per week (2012/13) Our City South Campus has 208 rooms across three halls of residence – Calthorpe, Oakmountand Westmount. Residents share kitchen facilities, dining room and one or two bathrooms. All rooms have a private internal telephone and internet connection. In addition to standard-sized rooms, Calthorpe Hall features a number of larger rooms. Other facilities: > Laundrette > Security office > Accommodation office > Pay as you go car parking > Union bar > Café and shop.

What else? • Once you have accepted your room offer ensure you complete the online induction as it provides lots of useful information and advice for living in halls • All halls are non-smoking • Bring your own bedding, towels, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils • If you bring a TV you will need a licence • Upgraded internet services are available • Large electrical appliances (fridge, freezer, heater) and candles are not permitted • Overnight visitors are permitted if pre-booked

How to Apply • You can apply as soon as you firmly accept a course offer using our online application form • You will receive unique application reference number which you should use in all correspondence with us • Allocation of rooms begins early July for students with unconditional course offer • Allocation for students with conditional offers will begin once exam results are known • Accommodation not guaranteed for insurance/clearing applicants but we will endeavour to offer you a place
