  2. Ilocos Norte • is a province of the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region in Luzon. Its capital is Laoag City and is located at the northwest corner of Luzon Island.

  3. PEOPLE ANDCULTURE life of the Ilocano – are described as - "the browbeaten, industrious, cheerful, simple soul who has shown a remarkable strain of bravery and a bit of wanderlust." The Ilocano history reveals his struggles and victories – in battles for colonial independence from Spain and America, to Philippine leadership.

  4. NATURAL RESOURCES  • The region is a producer of food surplus – rice, corn, vegetables, root crops and fruits such as mangoes. It has abundant natural resources such as limestone for cement, feldspar for ceramics, fruits, vegetables, fish, poultry, and forest products such as bamboo and rattan.

  5. MODE OF TRANSPORTATION • 1. Taxi – (Public Utility Vehicle with a taximeter used in Metro Manila and other Philippine Major Cities). • 2. Jeep – Filipino made Vehicle • 3. Minibuses – derived from truck chassis • 4. Tricycle – regular motorcycle with additional passenger seating. Designs vary but are usually fairly standard in a municipality.

  6. Tourism Industry • The province offers a number of popular destinations for tourists, locals and foreigners alike. Because of its proximity to the South China Sea, tourist arrivals peak during the summer seasons, the beach resorts topping the most visited list.

  7. TOURISM INFRASTRACTURE • PAOAY, Ilocos Norte—The home of the Paoay Church, a World Heritage Site, is set to get a facelift, making it the focus of Ilocos Norte’s tourism master plan.

  8. MIGRATION A contemporary scholar, commenting on the Ilocano migration wrote: “The Ilocano movement has shown the way to people those vast lands. Without plan, without system, without leadership, without funds, following only the natural law of expansion, the ilocanos have spread over a considerable portion of the Northern Luzon, Central Plain and Mindanao.

  21. Ilocos Sur • is a province of the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region in Luzon. Vigan City, located on the mouth of the Mestizo River is the provincial capital.

  22. CULTUREHERITAGE The Ilocos Sur Museum, founded on August 22, 1970, has a sizable collection of cultural treasures to be proud of. Here, Ilocos Sur art include paintings, centuries-old sculptures and pieces of carved furniture.

  35. La Union •  is a province of the Philippines located in the Ilocos Region in Luzon. Its capital is San Fernando City and borders Ilocos Sur to the north, Benguet to the east, and Pangasinan to the south.

  36. CULTURE Ninety-three percent of the population is Ilocano and is overwhelmingly Roman Catholic. There are communities of Pangasinense in the south, Igorots in the Cordillera foothills, and Chinese in the city.

  37. Environmental and Natural Resources • Fishing grounds are found in almost all barangays traversed by the rivers.

  38. TRANSPORTATION As with most of the Philippines travel is fairly easy and typically consists of buses, cars, jeepneys, and tricycles. Depending on the distance of your destination from your current location is a big factor in your mode of transportation.
