  2. At approximately 93 million miles away and yet affecting all phases of our lives… , is this the “Light of the World?”

  3. Teacher to student, “Which is more important to us – the moon or the sun?”

  4. John 8:12 “… ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

  5. Purpose: to show that Christ/Christians are the light of the world

  7. II The Why Behind Being the Light of the World A. It is the Nature/Property of Light to Shine

  8. Light dispels dark – it is the very nature of light to do so…

  10. Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

  17. Conclusion and Summary: Such is what our Lord wants of us. While our individual efforts may seem weak and of little significance, they may count for far more than we can ever imagine!

  18. Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the waves. Some poor fainting, struggling seaman. You may rescue, you may save!
