  3. Forest Landowners of Castilla y León (FAFCYLE) • FAFCYLE has nine forest offices • FAFCYLE has a total of 7.324 forest landowners. • FAFCYLE has a total area of 503.513 ha. Project: Biomass in Forest Private Estates. FAFCYLE

Forest Sector in Castilla y León • Forest Landowners: aprox. 67% Forest area: 5 000 000 ha. • Anual growth: 7,200 Mm3 Vs Forest extraction: 1,200 Mm3 Import 950 Mm3 Export 240 Mm3 Volume CyL: 62m3/per.   7. Why forest biomass interest? WE NEED ENERGY!! HOW CAN WE FIGHT AGAINST FIRE IN THIS FOREST??!! It´s IMPOSIBLE!!! Law 11/2005 of urgent action on forest fires. Article 16. In order to prevent forest fires, it will be developed plans for existing residual biomass on the forest. Project: Biomass in Forest Private Estates. FAFCYLE

  9. Project Important Aspects • Harvest without market. • The project pay: 10 €/m3 (stacked) or 25 €/tn. Conditions for forest landowners: • To have tecnical assistant of FAFCYLE. • To cooperate in the necessary checks. • To pay the 30% of expenses. Project: Biomass in Forest Private Estates. FAFCYLE

  10. Results • Number of forest landowners involved: 24 • Total area in the project: 332 ha. • Total biomass extraction in the project: 6 516 tn. • Tons of Oil Equivalent: 1.759.32 toe. • Mean extraction: 19,60 tn/ha. Project: Biomass in Forest Private Estates. FAFCYLE

Conclusions • We need to improve in collection technologies. • The biomass forest management will be a opportunity for forest landowners. • It is necesary to motivate at private investment in biomass sector. • We need to work in forest biomass planning. • It would be important to develop multisector biomass project. • It is very important to involvement at forest landowners in forest management.
