  4. The Language of a Teenager… • “Hey Johnny, Facebook me when you get home.” • “Tweet up the concert and make sure you use hashtags.” • “I just downloaded that app on my iphone.” • “OMG your mom blogs about you.” • “LOL IDK TTYL XOXO :)”

  22. Social Media in the Classroom • How could I use something that students use everyday to extend my classroom.

  23. You have to get on their level • High School students use social media on a daily basis. In order to reach out to them you have to use a medium they can relate to?

  24. What did I do? • I created a twitter account, www.twitter.com/m9economics

  25. Why Twitter? • It is simple • 140 characters makes you keep it simple. • Hashtags (#) allow you to organize things. • It allows you to teach outside the classroom.

What is a Blog? • A blog (a contraction of the term "web log")[1] is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
