  2. Drive formatting Formatting is the process Of preparing a hard disk Drive medium for data Storage, it may also create one or more new file systems.

  3. Low + High Level • ‘Low level formatting’ refers to the process of preperation of the formatiing process • ‘High level formatting’ refers to the creation of a new file system eg FAT or NTFS

  4. Destruction Formatting is a destructive process meaning that when You format your hard disk drive, any data that is on it will be lost.

  5. Partitioning • Partitioning is the process of splitting one hard disk drive into multiple blocks • Some operating systems allow these partitioned hard disk drives to appear as two separate drives
