  2. Front Side Completely fill out form • Date range • Date, title, author • Time • Range not total • 5:30-6:00 NOT 30 minutes • Pages • Range not total • 1-10 not 10pgs

  3. Front Side • NEED A PARENT SIGNATURE • Signature needs to be on the actual reading log you are turning in. Signed pieces of notebook paper, emails, and phone calls won’t be accepted.

  4. On the back 6-8 QUALITY sentences • Should not be short and choppy. You’re not in 3rd grade anymore  • Use a clear topic sentence, supporting details from the book, concluding statement • Pay attention to: • Spelling and punctuation • Run-ons and fragments • This may be factored into your grade

  5. On the back “You need to use examples and information from the book to explain your answer.” • Need specific details • Don’t be vague • I should be able to tell you actually read the book

  6. On the back • Choose different topics for each written portion. • If you don’t understand a prompt, ask for clarification or just don’t do that one • If you feel none of the prompts applies to your reading, see me and we’ll come up with something else for you to write about

  7. Sample of “Good writing” • Prompt: How are you similar to and/or different from the main character? • See Word Document

  8. NO LONGER ACCEPTED AS THE LAST SENTENCE OF YOUR PARAGRAPH Anything along these lines: “And that is why I chose to answer prompt 1.” “That is why I like the main character so much.” “Those are the 3 things I would do if I were the main character.”

  9. Misc • Make sure you are turning in the correct reading log # • My website has the entire trimester posted
