  1. Reading Log 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th Grade Portfolio Requirement Each year a Reading Log must be completed. If a year is missed points will be lost for the Senior Exhibition Grade.

  2. What is a Reading Log? • A running record of books read by each student. • Includes title, author, genre, date read, pages, and adult validation.

  3. Who can Validate your reading on the Reading Log? • A parent or guardian • A Teacher

  4. What can be included on the Reading Log? • Books: All genres • Textbooks: One from each class (Student must pass class to receive credit for textbook) • NO: Magazines, newspapers, etc.

  5. Do I Have to Fill-In All of the Rows to Receive Credit? • No magical number of books to read. • Must fulfill state standard: “By the 12th grade students are expected to read independently two million words of running text per year. This translates to about 11 pages per day or one 335-page book each month.”

  6. How Will I be Responsible for the Books on the Reading Log? • Questions about books can be asked at your Exhibition. • Only record books you’ve REALLY read!

  7. Where can you get the Reading Log? • Log into the Naviance Program, from PHHS website - http://www.sandi.net/henry • On the front page of Family Connections look on the right side & you will see “Document Library”.

  9. Reading Log After opening the “document library” then look in “My personal documents” for your reading log. ClickHere

  10. Community Service Log Inside the link for “My personal documents”, The PHHS Reading Log is available. This is a requirement for all students from 9th through 12th grades.

  11. Reading Log This is an example of what the Reading Log looks like. After you type in your information then save it to your computer.

  12. Reading Log After your log is saved on your computer then you will need to upload it into your Naviance journal. Here You will upload your log in the “journal” section:

  13. Reading Log How to upload your document into the Journal. Click on “+add new entry” Follow the directions to add your document. Click here

  14. Uploading documents How to “Add Journal Entry”: Fill in the template below. Type in Reading Log or whatever the title is of your document. Check counselors, teachers, & my parents. Browse your computer to find your document and click on it, then click on attach. Submit by clicking “Add Journal Entry”

  15. Logs & Other Assignments Now that you know how to upload your Reading Log you can upload your favorite assignments and essays. They will be saved in your “Journal” and you can share them with panel members during your Exhibition.

  16. Finding your Journal to see your assignments. When you want to show your Reading Log & other assignments, you open your “Journal” where they are saved. Click here

  17. Sharing your Reading Log at your Senior Exhibition! Option 1: You may show your Reading Log from the Naviance program. You would display this from a computer projecting the Log onto a pull-down screen in the classroom. Option 2: You may print your Reading Log and place it in your Exhibition Portfolio 3-ring binder for panel members to view.
