WHAT IS A HATE CRIME? • Criminal offense where the victim or the target is chosen for its real or perceived connection, sympathy, affiliation, support or membership to a group with a common feature to all its members, including: • - Race, color, national or ethnic origin • - Language • - Religion or beliefs • - Ideology or political orientation • - Identity and Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, • - gender • - Intellectual, Physical, Sensory or Psychical Disability • - Age • - Disease • - Homelessness • - Belonging to a Professional/Social Group, Social • - Socio-Economic/Family Situation • - Any other factor of discrimination or multiple: case of multiple discrimination

  15. SINGULARITIES - Selects the victim because of their identity. It is a prohibited form of discrimination that violates human rights. - The psychological impact is greater than on similar offenses where the cause is not originated by prejudice or discrimination as they affect the identity, freedom and equality of people. - Not only they frighten the victims, also groups and communities to which they belong, seeking confrontation and to injure the community.

INDICATORS OF POLARISATION • - The perception of the victim: • - Membership of the victim to a minority or vulnerable group • - Discrimination and hatred by association • Racist, xenophobic, homophobic comments or expressions • - Tattoos or clothing that worn by the perpetrator • - The relationship of the suspect with football ultras groups. • Relationship of the suspect with groups or associations characterized by their animadversion or hostility against immigrants, muslims, homosexuals, jews, etc. • Propaganda, banners, flags, banners, etc ..., symbology • Police records for similar crimes of the suspect • - The incident occurs near a place of worship or a specific date • - The apparent gratuitousness of violent acts • - Historical enmity between the group and perpetrator of the victim
