  1. WP 3 Satellite observations

  2. SCIAMACHY retrieval • Month 15: Initial error report • Month 18: First dataset for CH4 and CO • Incorporation of ECMWF p/T profiles • Include gtopo30 surface elevation database to correct for surface pressure • Improvements in the applied CO2 model, use optimized CO2 fields (consistent with NOAA CMDL data) • Error analysis with special focus on accuracy (e.g., aerosols, surface albedo, fractional cloud cover)

  3. Comparison SCIA – FTIR • Optimal solution would be to compare CH4/CO2 SCIA with CH4/CO2 FTIR(possible input from the GEOMON project) • Otherwise comparison with surface pressure normalised FTIR data • Start of validation: month 20 • Extraction of SCIA overpass data for FTIR stations • Averaging kernels for SCIA measurements will be provided

  4. SCIAMACHY CO • Historical dataset from UFTIR available • Input for modelling activities

  5. IASI • To be discussed on the next meeting: • Retrieval algorithm • Comparison strategie with SCIAMACHY and FTIR • Possibility of combined SCIAMACHY/IASI retrieval • Initially focus on retrieval over FTIR stations
