  2. The University of Novi Sad is an educational, scientific and art institution founded by the Republic of Serbia. Educational activities in Vojvodina and Novi Sad have a tradition of more than a few hundred years. The University of Novi Sad was founded on June 28, 1960. and it represents an autonomous institution for education, science and arts. The University is comprised of 13 faculties located in the four major cities of the autonomous Province of Vojvodina: Novi Sad, Subotica, Zrenjanin, Sombor.

  3. The Faculty of agriculture is one of the oldest within the University of Novi Sad. It was founded in 1954. • The scope of work at the Faculty covers the following units: • Departments: • For field and vegetable crops • For animal science • For fruit science, viticulture, horticulture and landscape architecture • For agricultural economics • For agricultural engineering • For plant protection • For water management • For veterinary medicine The Faculty organizes the bachelor,MsC and PhD studies.

  5. EXPERIMENTAL FIELD FOR VITICULTURE AND FRUIT SCIENCE Experimental field is derived from theRegional Institute for viticulture and wine production. This is one of the oldest Institutes at the Faculty of Agriculture. It was founded in 1947, in the SremskiKarlovci, small town, 12km far from Novi Sad, located on the slopes of the Fruska Gora mountain. This Institute was integrated with the Institute of the same name at the Faculty of Agriculture in 1972. From that time, they work together, under the same name

  6. EXPERIMENTAL FIELD FOR FRUIT SCIENCE – RIMSKI ŠANČEVI Trials fields at two locations: - 36 ha at RimskiŠančevi (nursery, experimental orchards) - 20 ha at Gladnoš (experimental orchards in future) Pomological colection with over 2000 genotypes

EXPERIMENTAL FIELD FOR VITICULTURE – SREMSKI KARLOVCI • The whole research work in viticulture could be systematized into four sections: • Ampelographic research(Ampelographical collection with over 750 genotypes) • Grapevine breeding • Grapevine physiology • Grapevine agrotechnique • In experimental field were bred • 21 new grape cultivars and 3 • Clones of Riesling italian. SremskiKarlovci (30 ha)

EXPERIMENTAL FIELD FOR VITICULTURE – SREMSKI KARLOVCI Depending on the plant breeding objectives, three phases in creating new grape varieties were determined: PHASE 1 Objective: Improvement of the quality of cultivated autochthonous grape vine varieities (Smederevka, Kevidinka, Prokupac, Kadarka) by its cross-breeding with top quality Western European grape varieties.

EXPERIMENTAL FIELD FOR VITICULTURE – SREMSKI KARLOVCI PHASE 2 Objectives: Resistance to low winter temperatures Grape and wine quality Cross-breedings include hereditary base of Eastern Asian species called Vitis amurensiswhich is known for its high resistance to low temperatures, tolerance to fungal diseases and short vegetation.

EXPERIMENTAL FIELD FOR VITICULTURE – SREMSKI KARLOVCI PHASE 3 Objectives:Increase in fungal disease resistance Better grape and wine quality The hereditary base of North American species highly resistant to Plasmopara viticolu and Oidium tuckeri is expanded by Seyve Villard hybrid and its varieties
