  2. Kakadu National Park is in the Northern Territory of Australia. • 171km south of Darwin. • It has an area of 19,804km squared. Kakadu National Park Background

Kakadu National Park’s flora is some of the richest with more than 2000 species. • It is also one of the most weed free national park in the world. • Kakadu is home to some endangered animal species. • Animals that call Kakadu home include: mammals like wild dogs, kangaroos, bats and bandicoots. Birds such as quails, robins, honeyeaters and lorikeets. Reptiles such as different snakes, goannas, crocodiles and lizards. Insects like moths, dragonflies, grasshoppers and beetles. Many sorts of fish also live in Kakadu. Flora and Fauna

  4. Feral animals in Kakadu have been mainly introduced by non-Aboriginal people. • Some of the animals include the Asian water buffalo, cattle, pigs, dog, rats and European bees. Introduced Species

A lot of the introduced species have caused problems in the park and have damaged the nature. • For example the Asian water buffalo; they eat large amounts of grass and plants competing with the native wildlife, they carry diseases which can spread to cattle. • Pigs dig up the earth in search of food and make the ground exposed to weed infestation. • Horses spread weeds and damage waterholes by fouling the water and eroding soil. • Cane toads are poisonous and they are a danger to animals like snakes and goannas who try to eat them.
