Also consider handing out candy or other small treats with a small card attached listing a few key benefits and the website to find out more about SOMA

  5. Recruitment Ideas • Spokesperson: if your Dean or another faculty member at your school is a big SOMA supporter, see if you can get them to casually say a few words on SOMA’s behalf at orientation or some other time early on in the Fall semester • Promote the SOMA New Member Scholarship offered by National • If your chapter has the money, also consider offering an additional scholarship for 1 new member to attend Fall convention to get them more involved right away

  6. New Online System!!! • If your school utilizes laptops, you can do the SOMA presentation in the lecture hall and have everyone register at the same time • If your school does not utilize laptops or if you are registering students during a clubs fair, you can have a few laptops available at your SOMA table to allow students to register online

  7. New Online System!!! • You may also send out emails or hand out flyers with instructions on how to register and allow students to register on their own time. This option simply requires more follow-up and is recommended as just that, a follow-up after the initial membership drive is complete, to pick up any members that did not get registered during the drive
