  3. 7th grade schedule AB Language Arts and History Math Students are placed in math classes based on math placement test taken in March.

  4. 7th grade schedule Science 7 Health/Life Science

  5. 7th grade schedule PE • All 7th graders must take PE • 0 period and lunch PE are options • 2 Performing Arts electives • 1 Performing Arts elective and an intervention class • 1 Performing Arts elective and an elective requiring an application

  6. Electives • Please choose your electives carefully! Unless there are special circumstances, students must remain in their chosen elective for the entire school year. • Students should list 4 electives in order of preference. Students should be satisfied with all choices, as they may be placed in any of these choices.

  7. Electives Performing Arts • Most performing art electives have unlimited seating Application Electives (A) • Applications are due when you turn in your registration materials. (Peer Counseling, Leadership, Yearbook, Journalism, Forensics, and AVID) Other options include: • Computer Applications • Teen Living/Art

  8. How to Fill Out Your Elective Application • List your 4 elective choices • Be sure they match your registration form elective choices • Answer the listed questions on a separate sheet of paper for each elective • Answers must be typed

  9. Elective Application • Student and parent must sign the Code of Ethics

  10. Elective Application • One letter of recommendation from a teacher or coach is required. Your GIS will turn these in to GR. • Applications are due to your counselor with your registration materials

  11. AVID • AVID is an elective class offered to hard working students who would like to prepare for four-year universities. • The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note-taking and study skills, as well as college, career, and motivational activities. • Students must commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis. • Helpful for students who struggle with time management/organization • Other requirements for applicants are satisfactory citizenship, good attendance, Adv/Pro on CST, and G.P.A. of 2.5-3.9.

Academic Interventions Academic Seminar • High Below Basic or Basic on CST • Support for AB classes • Focus on reading, comprehension, writing, homework, and organization Study Strategies • Receive C-/D grades consistently • Focus on study skills, academic skills, and organization skills Read 180 • Far Below Basic or Low Below Basic on CST • Individualized and computerized instruction to improve reading skills Math Strategies Students who need support in Math will be placed in Math Strategies as their elective.

  15. 6th Grade Parent Nights • Both meetings will begin at 6:00pm in the Granite Ridge Gym • Campus tours will be available starting at 5:00pm • Parents may attend either of the meetings listed Wednesday, March 12th Monday, March 17th

  16. Laptop Information Night • Thursday, March 27th at 6:00pm in the Granite Ridge MPR
