Lessons There will be 5 lessons a week: • Lesson 1: Grammar (Stilel 4 and handouts) • Lesson 2: Grammar (Stilel 4 and handouts) • Lesson 3: Reading and Dictation (Senduq Kuluri and Senduq Buffuri) • Lesson 4: Grammar (Stilel 4 and handouts) • Lesson 5: Creative Writing / Listening and Speaking (handouts)

  3. Grammar (1st semester) • The tricky consonants: d/t, ċ/ġ, g/k, p/b • The consonants għ, h and ħ • The vowels a, e, i, o, u, ie • The vowels i and ie • The consonants: Qamrin and Xemxin • The article

  4. Grammar (1st semester) • The demostrative pronouns: din, dan, dawn, dik, dak, dawk • Nouns: Common and Proper • Nouns: Singular and Plural • Plural: (Sħiħ and Miksur) • Gender: Feminine and Masculine • Numbers

  5. Objectives • Listening: • Students will be able to answer questions related to what they have heard. • Students will be able to discuss their opinion regarding something they listened to with the rest of the class. • Students will be given the opportunity to predict the end of a story they have listened to. • Students will be helped to develop a coherent line of thought while commenting about something they listened to.

  6. Objectives • Speaking: • Students are to speak Maltese during the Maltese class. • Students will be given structured tasks which would in turn help them gain the ability to speak to an audience about a subject of their own choice. • Students will be given tasks which would help them learn how to express their opinions about the theme currently at hand. • Students will be given task which would help them learnhow to give instructions in a practical exercise.

  7. Objectives • Reading: • Students will read different genres like stories, legends, poetry, newspapers, magazins and drama. • Students are to answer, both orally and in writing, to questions related to what they have read. • Students will practise scanning for meaning and gist of a text. This will in turn help them to improve their reading comprehension skills.

  8. Objectives • Writing: • Students will be able to write more complex sentences with correct punctuation and structure. • Students will be able to write paragraphs about a theme. • Students will be able to structure their writing into a composition format: introduction, body, conclusion. • Students will be helped to stucture their ideas using mind maps.
