The Internet is already the most powerful force for globalization, democratization, economic growth, and education in history. • Individuals and groups can self organize around common ideals via the Internet, independent of conventional institutional controls, and regardless of nationality or languages. • This unparalleled social power is reinventing citizens role in the political process and changing institutions, policymaking and governance.

  2. There is no “universal” civilization based on widespread acceptance of Western liberal democratic ideals.

  3. Electric Fire • Religious and patriarchal structures continue to hinder progress in addressing women's deprivations of liberty, maternal mortality, unsafe abortions, lack of access to family planning and genital mutilation, child marriage, child labor, and the feminization of poverty. • Women are increasingly cutting through cultural hierarchies via the Internet to get information, form groups, coordinate actions, and participate in networks.
