  2. Wharton Leadership Program Mission To develop leaders who act with a deeper understanding of themselves, their organizations, and their communities, and contribute positively to the growth of each.

NBLP Program Overview • Vision •   To be the experiential leadership development program at Wharton that educates MBA students on nonprofit board governance.  • Mission • To develop MBA students as leaders who seek a life-long commitment to community involvement and board service, resulting in value creation for nonprofit organizations and communities.

Board Fellow Role • 1-year commitment • Approximate time commitment is 10-15 hours per month • Support mission and vision of a local non-profit board as non-voting board member • Develop relationships within your nonprofit and Board Fellow community • Participate in trainings, speaker events, and case discussions in addition to attending board and committee meetings

  6. NBLP Coordinator Role As “Fellows to the Fellows”, be a peer leader for the next two years in a role that builds and maintains close relationships with the class of Board Fellows. Shape program through recruitment, selection, and development of Board Fellows community culture Mentor 10 Board Fellows through challenges in monthly pod and one-on-one meetings – e.g., managing board conflicts, role discussions, etc.

  8. Why Apply?

Board Fellow Commitment Selected students need to sign a contract and meet the following requirements: Attend: Class of 2015 Kickoff March 20th– pre-Pub all training sessions April 4th or 18th– 9am-4pm August 22nd and 23rd– 9am-5pm all board and relevant committee meetings Pod meetings Mastermind meetings 4th Tuesday of each month, September-April Follow through on all commitments made to the nonprofit organization Participate actively in the fellow community Students may be removed from the program if terms of the agreement are not upheld

Nonprofit Placement • The Leadership Program works to develop and maintain partnerships with over 65 participating nonprofit organizations • Boards range in areas of focus, lifecycle stage, and size • Placements are based on students’ interests in the missions of the nonprofit organizations • Students are asked to select six potential organizations • A critical factor to a successful match in this program and in future involvement is that you are passionate about the mission

  12. Key Dates Application due Tuesday, February 4 at 11:59 pm Submit online through ApplicantStack Interviews will be held February 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 Decisions will be announced at the end of February Mandatory Dates March 20 April 4 or 18 August 22-23

Board Fellow Application Written application submitted online Four essay questions Due 11:59 PM February 4, 2014 LATE APPLICATIONS will NOT be accepted Some applicants will be invited for interviews An individual must be interviewed in order to be selected as a Fellow Typically 120 students apply for 40 positions
