  3. Serfs- peasants who worked the land but had little rights. Property of nobles. -- bought and sold with no say --severely punished if they ran away --no technology to increase production Structure of Society

  4. Structure of Society • Nobles --wealthy families --had up to 100 serfs --held lavish parties where serfs prepared food, served, and entertained --disciplined serfs
