  2. Common Strategies: High risk/high desirability: the long shot, the wishful thinker, the gambler who is ready “to go for broke” on a slim chance. Low to medium risk/high desirability: a realistic strategy that tries for the best combination of desirability and probability of success. Low risk/low desirability: the safe shot, for the person who wants to be sure of getting something, or, at least, of avoiding the worst “The ship in the harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are for.” Factors Involved in this Activity1.   3. How much information is enough? There is no absolute answer to this question. At some point, the search for additional information becomes an evasion of the decision, and we are faced with the paradox that “not to decide is to decide.” Every decision entails some risks, for we never can have all the relevant information nor can we predict accurately all outcomes. Hence, the need arises for risk-taking strategies which weigh the probabilities and desirability of various outcomes against each other. (Hall, Kalven, Rose, and Taylor, 1995 p. 65).
