City Equals Members • Hi my name is Jessica • I am the vice chair person of City Equals and • I am aged, • I got Involved in lots of projects around Sunderland, • I live in Houghton-le-spring. • I am currently taking driving lessons • My hobbies are swimming, badminton and cars. • Hi my name is Kevin • I’m aged. I am a part time student at College. • I live with my mam. • l like football and I am a volunteer at • Grindon Youth Club • with young people • with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities

City Equals Members • Hi my name is Trevor • I am aged . • I am the chairperson for City Equals. • I am a Man United fan. • My hobbies are train spotting and bowling. • My Favourite snooker player is the Rocket. • Hi my name is Marie • I am aged • I like playing and watching football • I am at college and I go to the A690 youth • project. • I also go to City Equals, • Lambton Street and Pallion Action Group • and my pets are a dog and a cat.

  8. What is City Equals about We are a group of young people who are the voice’s for young people with Learning difficulties and disabilities in Sunderland (LDD). We are part of a committee which have roles and reasonability's. where some members are voted into the roles; the roles are showing on slide three. To make this fair we do have a in house voting system which decide who get vote into the roles. The group take part in training to develop their confidence ,self seem, group work and team work. But above all to serve as a member for all LDD.

  9. History of City Equals • Youth Development Group first developed City Equals in 2003. The Youth Strategy funded the staff which ran the project once a fortnight. City Equals were a group of 8 to 10 young people aged 15 to 25 yrs. The group was set up to link in with Youth Parliament Group. Over the years the group has been involved in City debates and Youth Inc. The group also received a Children People Service award 2007 and runners up for Young Achievers award in 2008.also the group won the over all Achievers award in 2011. • The group have moved on in many different levels; City Equals still have some of the older members who are still very active in City Equals.

  10. City Equal Mission Statement /Aims City Equals are devoted to making sure that young people with learning difficulties and disabilities (LDD), have a voice recognising that disabled people are citizens and to promote equality and opportunity for all.
