  2. Important Student Information • Science Notebook: All students need to have a one subject spiral or composition notebook kept in class. • Safety Contract • No bathroom breaks during class. • 3 Major test grades: two tests and 1 lab/project • Test days are Mondays and Wednesdays

  3. Overview of Topics • Organic Compounds • Levels of Organization in organisms • Cell structure and function • Heredity and Genes • Body Systems

  4. STAAR • Increased depth of knowledge. • Increased rigor.

  5. Class Points Designed to keep students accountable for each other. Time Out Personal consequences that enforce reflection of behavior and plans to change it. Classroom Management

  6. Grades • Daily work: 30% (Class work, stations, mini-labs, quizzes) • Homework: 10% • Major work: 60% • Students are responsible for make-up work • Late work receives 25 pt deduction per day for daily and 15 pt deduction per day for major.

  7. Outside the classroom Encourage your children to join some sort of group/club. Participate in activities set up by other clubs.
