  2. The Royal Flying Corps Canada was established by the Royal Flying Corps in 1917 to train aircrew in Canada. As the war progressed, Great Britain found it that it needed more aircrew and more training facilities. During the last two years of the war 3135 pilots and 137 observers trained in Canada and Texas for both the RFC and the new Royal Air Force.

  3. Aircraft used during the war by the RFC included: • Airco DH 2, DH 4, DH 5, and DH9 • Armstrong-Whitworth F.K.8 • Avro 504 • Bristol’s, F2A and F2B • Handley Page O/400 • Martinsvde G.100 • Morange-Saulnier Bullet • Nieuport Scout 17, 24 , 27 • Strutter, Pup, Triplane, Camel & Dolphin • SPAD S. VII • Vicers FB5

  4. Notable Canadian Fighter Pilots of WWI William George "Will" Barker: (1894-1930) Remains Canada's most highly decorated soldier, serving as a highly successful fighter pilot during World War One with over 50 victories.

  5. Notable Canadian Fighter Pilots of WWI William Avery (Billy) Bishop: (1884-1956) Was Canada's highest-scoring fighter pilot of World War One, with 72 confirmed victories.

  6. Notable Canadian Fighter Pilots of WWI Arthur Roy Brown: (1893-1944) Achieved fame during the First World War for being credited as the air ace who finally brought the 'Red Baron' - Manfred von Richthofen - down.

  7. Notable Canadian Fighter Pilots of WWI Raymond Collishaw: (1893-1975) Was Canada's second-highest scoring fighter pilot during World War One, achieving 60 aircraft victories by the war's close, plus eight observation balloons.
