  2. Background • HR group identified need • Statewide online training idea was born • Nini offered Skillsoft • Carroll’s summer intern 2nds that emotion

  3. What is the goal? • Select 4 core courses • Create discussion guides • Develop best practices

  4. Who will participate? • HR managers • Staff development coordinators • Experienced managers • Other HR staff

  5. How many participants will we have? • CM library systems - 3 seats each • Regional library systems - 2 seats each • Unused seats will be divided up

Jean Mantegna BCPL, Montgomery, PG Terri Schell Harford, Anne Arundel, Cecil Muffie Smith Carroll, Howard, Frederick Jennifer Howell Western Maryland Jennifer Ranck Eastern Shore Jennifer Falkowski Southern Maryland Who will lead the Way? 3 team leaders for CM libraries 3 team leaders for regional libraries

  7. Expectations of participants? • Evaluate 4-6 Skillsoft courses • Help create discussion guides • Help develop best practices

  8. Time commitment of participants? • Review minimum of 4 courses (average 3-5 hours each) between 12/1/07 and 8/1/08 • Attend 3 meetings with team between end of January and mid August

  9. Expectations of team leaders • Coordinate registration of team participants • Make certain team is comfortable using Skillsoft • Schedule and facilitate 2-3 team meetings • Communicate with Muffie

  10. Timeline • By October 13 • Team leader sends Muffie seat count for each system • By November 1 • Muffie confirms seat counts with each system and team leaders • By November 9 • Skillsoft registration completed • December 1 - August 15 • Take courses and meet with team 2-3 times • By May 8 • Teams recommend purchase of Skillsoft and request seats

  11. Possible Team Timeline December 2007/January 2008 Review 1 course • Team meets end of January to evaluate course, develop discussion guide/best practices • Muffie touches base with team leaders beginning of February to discuss progress/concerns February/March Review 1 course April/mid May Review 1 course • Team meets mid May to evaluate 2 courses, etc. • Muffie touches base with team leaders end of May May 8 - Teams make recommendation regarding purchase and request seat count to Muffie and Nini June/July Review 1 course • Team meets beginning of August • Muffie touches base with team leaders mid August to get course recommendations
