  2. Good Practices • Good Practices (GP) are an efficient tool to learn from experience (project dimension, reasons and objectives, implementation) • GP are intended as technical, organizational and data sharing cases/experiences; they are a good approach to review the geo-information flow in nature conservation • GP are collected into an on-line database, upon input by the Members of the NATURE-SDIplus Network and targeted stakeholders in the field • The information is collected via a template, in case further refined with personal interviews • GP have been also presented in the project workshops (proceedings available)

  3. Good Practices Catalogue The template to collect information

  4. Collected Good Practices • The Catalogue includes 38 practices (14 different countries, 3 international practices) • The most reported keywords: • environmental monitoring • reporting • data access • management • metadata management • dataset harmonisation • The most reported application areas: • planning & management, • biodiversity, • species distribution, • natural resources sustainable exploitation

  5. Collected Good Practices

Good Practices at Workshops • PAMPLONA, 2009 • Biodiversity Data Infrastructure of Navarra • The Bertiz Natural Parkin nature geo-data management • MONTPELLIER, 2009 • The UK National Biodiversity Network NBN • MESH - Mapping European Seabed Habitats • The use of a relational database to store, manage and spread spatial data by a french landscape and biodiversity conservation NGO • A methodological approach to habitat mapping: the Interreg project "Flora and habitat conservation and management in the south-western Alps” • CHANIA, 2010 • Impact detection and assessment supporting integrated coastal zone conservation policy using GIS and Remote Sensing: a Case Study • Web-GIS Applications for the management of Natural Resources of Crete • GIS - a useful tool in WFD implementation and river hydrological and geochemical response investigation

  7. Good Practices at Workshops • LISBON, 2010 • SIPNAT - The Portugese Experience • Transboundary Case Study: PN Douro International and PNArribes del Duero • Biodiversity Information Systems: examples of data management • The BioDiversity4All Project - connecting people in the Web 2.0 to increase biodiversity knowledge • Structural Soil Erosion Model for the Portugese National Ecological Preserve • INSPIRE Biodiversity Mashup: Current Status • SOFIA, 2011 • The use of GIS for the protection of the Natura2000 site Rila mountain • Concept and reality of INSPIRE for risk management in Bulgaria • EDINBURGH, 2011 • The SDI portal of MS.MONINA: a Multi-scale Service for Monitoring NATURA 2000 Habitats of European Community Interest

  9. Call for Good Practices The challenge is to continue in Good Practice (both technical solutions and data management) collection, grounded on the input received by targeted stakeholders, and to share them within the community. If you wish to contribute, please, contact the NATURE-SDIplus project Office(e-mail: office@nature-sdi.eu).
