Singapore Chapter Status Report – (Sept 2011)‏ Domain Group Activities: Completed and Ongoing • Worked with local CAD vendors to incorporate BIM submission guidelines as part of training module • Develop the QTO project for the local building industry • Develop SS for DOL and CP for collaboration design processes among the design professionals throughout the building life-cycle • BCA developed BIM Roadmap • Launched Centre for Construction IT to support BIM initiatives • BIM funding for the industry announced in 2010 Awareness of IFCs/BIM • Encourage firms to adopt BIM software (IFC-compliant) by providing training subsidy to local firms; applicable only to new purchases of BIM software • Encouraging Industry to apply for BIM Fund to help them to be BIM-enable organisations • BIM skills competition plan for April 2011 in the Contruction Productivity Week will see the use of IFC model as part of the competition • To organize Build Asia Live for Students in March 2011 together with Korea counterpart and NUS • BIMBUZZ@Singapore 2011 completed with good participation (Prof - 7 countries - 15 teams, Education - 4 countries - 25 teams) • bSS in BIM Steering Committee • Certification Course in BIM Modelling and BIM Management started in Sept 2011 Recommendations and Priorities • BIM Competition for Students sponsored by bSS and bSK (7 March to 11 March 2011) • New Specialist Diploma Course in BIM to be introduced in May 2011 by BCA Academy • New BIM module in National University of Singapore in August 2011 • buildingSMART Conference in September 2011 • BCA CCIT & NUS DoB collaboration – internship for students to develop DOL • Public sector taking the lead in 2012 for all new building projects to impose BIM requirements • Mandatory BIM architectural submissions for projects > 20000 sqm in 2013 • Mandatory BIM structural and MEP submissions for projects > 20000 sqm in 2014 • Mandatory BIM submissions for projects > 5000 sqm in 2015 • BIM Steering Committee comprising Government agencies and industry to work on BIM standards and guidelines • Organising an International Panel of Experts on BIM from Oct 31 to Nov 3. Objective is to take stock and chart future directions for Singapore
